We have a whole bunch of animals to take care of which is quite expensive, but we try to handle it somehow. We can only manage it with your support!

You can also sponsor a donkey or a horse, if you like. Most donkeys are sent into the mountains of Thassos when they are old and exhausted where they mostly die of starvation. Here you can see a picture of a happy donkey, which is enjoying their twilight time - thanks to your support!

Flightcompany
As we have already described under "Donations", FOS is only financed by annual subscriptions and donations of animal lovers.
But we also need plenty of caring people who would like to help us as flight companions. We re-home animals to Germany and other countries and without your help we can’t get the animals abroad!
It won’t cost you one cent and is completely easy and uncomplicated for you.
Let us tell you how it works.
If you contact FOS that you want to help as a flight companion we arrange everything for you. Manu or one of the helping hands of FOS gets you and the animal to the airport.
The animal gets some medication to calm down for the flight. They stay in transport boxes which are big enough for them to move - even though they are asleep most of the time.
At the check in FOS pays for the animal-ticket and shows the passport and gives it to you. All of our re-homed animals are vaccinated, chipped, sterilized and in a good condition. The airport workers take care for the load on board.
When you arrive at the airport of your destination, you’ll first pick up your luggage and then you’ll wait for the airport workers to bring you the transport box. Sometimes you have to pick up the transport box at a special counter close to the luggage band.
At least one person will wait for you at the airport to take the animal. Just give that person the animal and the passport – that’s it! Don’t worry about nobody being at the airport! That won’t happen, we promise that!
This of course needs a lot of work to be arranged. So the sooner we know that you want to be a flight companion the better!

When you are on vacation on Thassos you might pop in at Lynne’s or Manu’s place to see the webcam or to meet Manu or Lynne or somebody else who invites you for one ouzo or two ;-)
While sitting on the terrace Manu or Lynne might mention FOS and invite you for a trip up in the mountains of Rachoni. Take the chance - you’ll love it!
It is quite an experience to meet Suzanne and her dogs. Don’t miss it! You also have an excellent view over the mountains and the nature is breathtaking.
When you’ll be in Rachoni it is quite likely that you fall in love with one of our dogs. If you’ll have the space and time, don’t hesitate to take your preferred dog back home. They all are unique and clingy. We also have several puppies that need love and attention and a caring hand, so why don’t you give one of those little cuties a home? Just in case if you fall in love with one of our dogs: we know what to do and at the end of your vacation you’ll own a new family member. The flight procedure is the same like written above. You see how easy it is!
Please notice that unfortunately it is very difficult to send animals to some north European countries. That is a completely different and difficult procedure. Although a lot of paperwork is needed to send dogs to England, it can be and has been done. Contact Lynne and she will explain the procedure.
If you know somebody else who might take a puppy or a cat home, take him or her to Manu. She’ll explain everything to do.

We are always short of medicines like wormers, dissolving suture material, Leishmaniasis tablet, treatment and disenfectant for parsites for inside the kennels. It is not a problem if 'past it's sell by date'.
But also empty spray bottles (refillable), old towels, old blankets or sheets, lots of old newspapers or magazines.
And for people living on the island: old car tires, wood or other materials to build dog houses, old metal or plastic barrels (the bottom may be broken) as a quick instant dog house, cement, sand. And of course you can donate some of your time bringing some goods up to the sanctuary, making dog houses etc. There is always something to do...
